If you follow me on Instagram you have probably seen my pictures and Instastories at The Barre Code in Lombard, IL.
Every time I tell people I’m going to a Barre class I get the funniest looks because they think I’m going to learn how to make drinks. Well, I can promise you The Barre Code is just as fun as sippin’ on a Moscato glass… okay almost as fun.
The Barre Code was founded by two women, Jillian and Ariana, who left their corporate jobs to follow their passion and help women live their best lives. That right there immediately attracted me to The Barre Code. It reminded me in so many ways of Tone it Up and Karena and Katrina’s goals when they started their community.
Being so passionate about women-run businesses, especially in the fitness industry, I decided to give it a try. When I heard there was a free community class hosted by one of their newest trainers, Lauren, I immediately signed up.
The moment I set foot inside The Barre Code I felt welcome and appreciated. The owner, Mel, greeted me by my name and made sure I knew where everything was and checked in with me at the end of class.
I absolutely loved feeling special and as if I belonged there and had been going for years, when really it was the first time walking through those doors.
The Barre Code classes
The Barre Code offers different classes: Barre, HIITRestore, BarRestore, Interval Brawl, and Total Body Conditioning (TBC).
Barre focuses on small, repetitive movements that fatigue the muscle. Let me tell you, the burn and shake is REAL, but I love it!
BarRestore is 30 minutes of Barre with 20 minutes of yoga and meditation. It’s the perfect way to end a long day.
If you’re looking for a little more cardio, Interval Brawl is very similar to kickboxing. While TBC offers strength training with bursts of HIIT and plyometric exercises.
HIITRestore, as the name suggests, is 30 minutes of HIIT with 20 minutes of stretching and meditation – intense but SO relaxing at the end.
The Barre Code philosophy
I admit I love all the classes offered at The Barre Code. But to be honest with you, the reason I keep coming back is because of their philosophy.
Living by The Barre Code means you push yourself to be stronger every day. All while acknowledging how strong you already ARE, and how unique and beautiful your body and mind are.
I am all about body positivity and encouraging people to live their best life, and that is exactly how I feel during every class at The Barre Code. All the instructors encourage you to do your best and repeatedly tell you (in case you have forgotten) how amazing and strong you are for showing up to class and taking those 50 minutes to work on yourself.
I can honestly say I 110% recommend trying a Barre Code class if you have one near you, you will not regret it!
