Last year I wanted to make a vision board, but by the time I started planning it I felt it was too late.
I let 2018 get ahead of me and did not make time to create a vision board.
This year, I made it a point to create my vision board as soon as the year started.
I asked my Instagram followers if they had any tips and to be honest, I got an overwhelming number of responses asking me to share the tips.
On the flip side, I got very few responses with tips, which is what motivated me to write this post.
I want to help other women looking to create their own vision board, so here’s what I learned while making mine.
Think of your Goals
The first thing I did was think about my 2019 goals. After all, a vision board is meant to remind you of your goals and dreams.
Once I got that out of the way I started brainstorming ways to visually portray them.
I decided to print out images, logos, and words that identify my goals and use them in my board.
A lot of people on Instagram suggested using magazine cut-outs or printing out quotes as well.
Since I didn’t have any magazines handy, I decided to just print them out myself.
Find a board
The whole idea of a vision board is to put images that are part of your vision into a board.
Part of my 2019 goals is to spend less money so Kris and I can save more and buy a house.
For that reason, instead of buying a cork board at Target or Michael’s as many Instagram followers suggested, I used a board I had at home.
I didn’t really have a use for that board at the moment so I thought it would be great if I could save money and finally put that board to use.
Luckily everything I printed out would fit that board in a pretty way.
However, if you’re looking for a cork board I recommend this cute burlap one at Target or this even more affordable board.
Piece it all together
I had my board and I had my pictures, all I had to do now was put it together.
I played around with different placements for my photos until I finally found the one I was happy with.
My board represents where I’m currently at and what I’m hoping to achieve.
As I mentioned, Kris and I are hoping to buy a house this year, so I included some print outs of a house and a gorgeous kitchen.
I want to continue working out and eating healthy (hopefully more avocado toasts in my future) which is why I included those images.
I’m also planning on staying even more active blogging, sharing meaningful content on Instagram, and building a community that will lead to more events like the one I hosted in Illinois.
Another of my goals this year is to read more (I’ve been trying to finish reading the same book for the past 1.5 years), continue learning how to love my body and finally traveling back to Colombia!
Working towards it
Making the vision board is just a reminder and way of manifesting my goals and dreams.
I still have to put in the work to actually accomplish those goals.
Use the vision board to fuel that passion and remind you of why it is you’re doing what you’re doing.
I’m hoping by the end of 2019 I’ll look at my vision board and be able to check off every goal I had in mind.
