Mindless snacking is something I’m guilty of. I’m sure you’ve done it too at some point in your life.
I always say meal prepping is key to avoid mindless snacking. But what do you do when you’re actually hungry and desperately craving a snack?
Luckily, a lot of companies have come out with healthier versions of the most popular (highly saturated or sweet) snacks.
I personally love having the ability to still enjoy a snack when I truly feel like I need one, without having to worry about the unhealthy ingredients.
For the sweet tooth
Gummy bears
I am a huge fan of gummy bears! I discovered Smart Sweets while scrolling through my Instagram one day and decided to give them a try.
They taste just like the real sugar-packed deal but are a much better alternative! With only 3g of sugar and no processed ingredients, I think I have found my favorite candy.
Chocolate
I’ve never really been a fan of milk chocolate. Dark chocolate though, is a whole other story.
Some of my friends call me weird but to be honest I love dark-dark chocolate. I know it’s healthier than milk chocolate but some brands load them with sugar anyway.
I learned about Eating Evolved thanks to Tori Simeone (Studio Tone It Up trainer) and bought it right away when I found it in Whole Foods.
Made with organic ingredients you can pronounce, this TIU-approved chocolate bar is perfect for those chocolate cravings. Best part, with dark chocolate a little goes a long way. With no refined sugar, my body is not desperately asking for more sweets.
Crunchy sweet
I recently tried Within/Without granola and I am obsessed! With only 9 ingredients, this healthy and clean granola solves my struggle with other granolas and cereals: too much sugar.
The peanut butter chocolate one is my absolute favorite and goes well with everything. I love adding it to my smoothie bowls, plain yogurt, or eating it straight out of the bag.
Best part? Get 15% off when you order with my code DEARMOSCATO so you can go ahead and start enjoying this delicious granola.
Protein bars
You all probably know by now that I am a Tone It Up girl and love snacking on their protein bars. My personal favorite is the Peanut Butter Chocolate flavor (obviously).
I’m also loving the Tone It Up Peanut Butter Protein Bites. They’re the perfect size for a quick bite and make you feel very satisfied.
Although companies claim their protein bars are healthy, a lot aren’t. That’s not the case with RX Bar.
Most of the bars only have around 5 clean ingredients but the taste is delicious! My personal favorite is the Peanut Butter and Berries, but to be honest, you can’t go wrong with any flavor.
For salty snacks
BBQ chips
I am obsessed with BBQ chips. I could say no to any other type of chips, but BBQ chips? No way!
Unfortunately, BBQ chips are highly saturated which leads to lots of bloating. In my case, chips make me feel really bloated and yucky. However, I love the taste.
Lucky for me, while I was walking through the Whole Foods aisles (see a trend here?) I found these Biena BBQ Chickpeas! I am addicted to these now! They taste exactly like BBQ chips but are obviously way healthier.
So if you are as obsessed with BBQ flavor as I am, go give them a try! Plus, they have tons of other flavors if BBQ isn’t your thing.
Chips & guac
If you follow me on Instagram you’ve probably heard me go on and on about guac. I love guac, honestly. And as fun as it would be to eat it on its own, I prefer it with chips.
The only problem with chips is that they’re usually loaded with saturated fat, cholesterol and so many other not-so-good things.
Siete Foods makes the best chips (and tortillas) for an awesome Taco Tuesday (or every day for that matter). They have different seasonings but my favorite is Sal y Limón – it’s the perfect tangy taste.
Pair it with guac and you’ve got yourself a delicious snack!
