There’s just something about this time of the year that makes everyone feel just a little bit happier and more grateful.
I’m sure the spirit of thanksgiving has a lot to do with it, but I just absolutely love the holidays (particularly Christmas).
I think practicing gratitude every day is important and beneficial. It becomes a lot more common during this time of the year, though.
For that reason, I believe people are just a bit happier during the holidays.
If you’re looking to show yourself and others a little more gratitude this season, I’ve got a few ideas for you!
Call your loved ones
There’s nothing better than catching up with a friend or family member.
Try calling (or visiting, if possible) a loved one to remind them how special they are to you.
Chat about life, get caught up on the latest, reconnect and continue to fuel that friendship.
And don’t forget to remind them how thankful you are to have them in your life.
It’s very nice to feel appreciated and respected, especially when it’s unexpected.
Write it all down
It seems pretty obvious, but starting your day with a gratitude list is an amazing way to show yourself how thankful you are for life.
More important than showing others how much you care, is showing yourself how much you care.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, when you show yourself love and appreciation, you are much better at showing others you care.
Start by writing a gratitude list in the morning. That way you’ll start your day on a positive note and a happier vibe.
Do a random act of kindness
In addition to taking care of yourself and loved ones, show a stranger some appreciation.
Pay for the order from the car behind you at Starbucks, hold the door open for people walking in a store, compliment a stranger on their lovely sweater, the list goes on!
Spread the love and kindness everywhere you go, and not only will you make others smile but it’s also contagious.
I hope you have a wonderful thanksgiving and fill your life with gratitude!
