It’s been almost a year since we moved into our home and I feel like this is a long overdue home tour series.
I frequently get questions on Instagram about sharing where we got our furniture from so I figured I’d break it down on the blog.
First up is the kitchen tour. Honestly, my favorite space in our home and thus why I needed to start with it.
When we were looking at homes to buy, the number one thing I needed to be perfect was the kitchen.
I could deal with everything else (though Kris will deny this) but the kitchen was a non-negotiable.
Ever since we moved in to our tiny apartment in Illinois, we would bump into each other in the kitchen all the time.
We had to tell each other when we needed the kitchen to have “time slots” and full range of the space. Meal prep is obviously a big deal for me so kitchen space and organization is a must.

I absolutely love how spacious our kitchen is. The island is great for cooking space, entertainment, and even as a workspace sometimes.
Our counter stools are modern and comfortable, our guests are always pleasantly surprised by how comfortable they are!
Storage Space

I’m a big fan of how much storage space we have.
There’s plenty of cabinets for storing our tupperware, pots and pans, plates, small appliances, and more.
In order to keep all the pots and pans organized, I found some wonderful organizers for the cabinets on Amazon (sold out but I linked similar ones above).
They’re honestly a life saver and avoid that annoying noise of pots and pans getting in the way of each other when taking them out.

I was committed to keeping the kitchen organized and having everything be easily accessible without making a mess, so I’m glad I purchased those!
Functional Yet Pretty
Obviously the main point of the kitchen is to be functional, but I do appreciate a pretty kitchen.
After all, it’s the first thing you see when entering our home.
For that reason, a few of our small appliances are on the counters, like my all-time favorite: the kitchen-aid. And obviously my Tone It Up bars could not be left out.
I also got a beautiful Hearth & Hand tray that I use as decor. I love styling it for the season and with beautiful, fresh flowers courtesy of the hubs.

Lastly, our Alexa Echo Show is so helpful. We use it to control the lights, find recipes, play music to our Sonos speakers, set timers, and even play games while we wait for food to be ready.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this kitchen tour! Let me know what you think in the comments. More parts to the home tour series coming soon!
