A few weeks ago I told Kris I was feeling homesick and having a hard time adjusting in Miami.
He was really concerned and looked for ways to help us make this city feel like home.
And suddenly he came up with the best idea: a trip to Disney World!
We live about 3.5 hours away from Disney and I hadn’t been there since I was 2 years old.
Frankly, I didn’t remember much so I thought sharing a Disney World experience with Kris would be really fun.
Planning the trip
Disney World has four major parks: Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, and Epcot.
We decided to visit Magic Kingdom since it’s the traditional park with all the characters and the stunning Cinderella castle.
I was so excited to relive my childhood (and who am I kidding, it’s still part of my adulthood) and see all the characters.
And most importantly, I was so excited to take a real good look at that castle (I am so moving in!)
A magical holiday
Since it’s the holiday season, the park was fully decked with all the Christmas decor.
Me being the Christmas fanatic I am, loved every second of it! The tree was stunning, the wreaths were beautiful, the lights were magical and I felt like I was living in a Christmas wonderland.
Honestly the only thing missing was the snow and it would’ve been straight out of a Hallmark movie.
The rides
I am a total baby when it comes to rides in parks.
Obviously I was very happy that all the rides in Magic Kingdom were child-approved so I didn’t have to scream and cry during any of them.
We started with It’s a Small World and then rode the carousel.
I don’t recall ever riding one (I probably did but was too young to remember) and had such a fun time!
We also met Cinderella and Elena of Avalor and were the only adult non-parents there (whoops! Guess I’m still a child).
Since it was so cold out (between 40-60 degrees all day) we ended up getting winter accessories at the store.
That’s when we learned about the Fast Pass and realized you get 3 free ones that you can schedule early and avoid the really long lines.
We immediately booked the rides available and ended in the Monsters Inc. laughing machine.
It was a total blast! They engage with the audience and crack amazing jokes, so I highly recommend it.
We also enjoyed the Winnie the Pooh ride and Pirates of the Caribbean thanks to the Fast Pass.
Pirates the Caribbean was probably the “scariest” (not really scary) ride because it was all dark and there was a drop, but it was so fun!
Happily Ever After
After the fun rides we did some holiday shopping and decided to stay for the fireworks.
Let me start by saying I cried the whole time.
I got to relive some of my favorite movies, sing along, watch a beautiful firework show, and get inspired by the magic of Disney.
Happily Ever After was exactly what I needed to reinforce that setting goals and going after them is the way to live.
At Disney, no dream is too big and that was my favorite part of my childhood: I believed I could do whatever I set my mind to.
That is what I hope to continue to carry with me in every stage of my life.
No matter where I am or where I go, I can make that dream happen and so can you.
My favorite part of the show was at the end when they told us to “let your dreams guide you. Reach out and find your happily ever after.”
So go on and do more of what fills you up. Find your happy place and share that joy with the world.
Finally, just wanted to say thank you to Disney for teaching me to believe in the power of dreams.
